POSITION OVERVIEW:
The purpose of the RBHN/LPN position is to provide routine nursing treatment, including care during emergency medical situations, to patients with substance use disorders (SUD). As a valued member of the multidisciplinary team, RBHN’s/LPN’s ensure that vital information about each patient is shared with other applicable staff members, as it relates to their overall medical status. Sunrise Detox and Evolve Recovery provides treatment for substance use disorders (SUD) and/or co-occurring disorders (COD). Each program determines if patients are appropriate for the level of care.
**The type of treatment services that a facility can provide is contingent on the program’s licensure and accreditation status.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- Graduated from an accredited school of nursing.
- Overall compliance with M.G.L. c. 112-74 (RN’s) and/or c. 112-74A (LPN’s).
- Current (two years) of no felonies or substance abuse convictions.
- Minimum one year experience in a chemical dependency/psychiatric setting.
- Detoxification experience preferred.
- Experience with delivering health education classes preferred.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conducts nursing screens of patients to ascertain their current signs and symptoms for SUD withdrawal while following the prescribed course of treatment per the organization’s written policies and procedures.
- Administers medications as ordered by the medical team.
- Documents services provided to patients in accordance with licensing and accreditation standards.
- Completes all forms within the patient’s electronic medical record in a neat, timely, and accurate manner.
- Provides other routine nursing services for patients.
- Educates patients about health problems, medical care, and medication specific to the patient’s treatment.
- Implements specific detoxification protocols as directed by the Medical Director and/or designee by either written or verbal orders, and appropriately documents the patient’s electronic health record.
- Confers and follows up with the medical team as necessary.
- Monitors the functions of the Chemical Dependency Technicians that are on duty at the facility.
- Oversees patient medication management including:
- Assists with emergency situations that arise in the facility.
- Maintains effective communication between outside medical treatment providers and Sunrise Detox and/or Evolve Recovery in relation to its policies.
